Council Update 8/11/21

Notes from the 8/11 council meeting:

• Accepted a grant from DCED for park improvements.
• Discussed how to spend federal grant money. This will be ongoing.
• Accepted a winter maintenance contract with PennDOT for the portion of state road in town.
• Voted to advertise an ordinance adopting the borough's new code. Adoption of this ordinance will be voted on at the September meeting.
• Voted to advertise the sewer project on Circle Drive being paid for with CDBG funds [a different federal grant]
• Voted to accept a one-year extension with our current garbage contractor, Bankosh Sanitation.
• Discussed the state's new agenda law and how it applies to meetings going forward. Starting next month agendas will be posted on the borough website the day before the meeting.
• Discussed an ordinance to vacate unused borough rights-of-way. This is still being worked on.
• Discussed fixes by the contractor to the paving project from this summer. They had equipment issues, but should be back soon to fix it.
• Discussed traffic issues related to the current route 356 project, including the current shutdown and the future shutdown from Pleasant Hill Road up to Piper Road.
