Council Update 7/14/21

7/18/2021

Council Highlights for 7/14/21
  • Clean up Days will be September 14th and 21st. Will make a separate post later detailing locations and regulations later today/tomorrow.
  • Discussed the upcoming closure of part of State Route 356 and the detour. The official detour is entirely outside of West Leechburg's borders, but there are concerns Piper Road will be used as an extra detour. The borough has contacted PennDOT, but they were entirely unresponsive because we are "outside the project area."
  • Discussed continued secretarial modernization, including moving to direct deposit for payroll. (The 21st century finally caught us!)
  • Discussed adjustments/fixes to be done by the paving contractor on Schall Lane to address a drainage issue.
  • Heard from representatives of West Leechburg Crime Watch regarding their plans to hold a National Night Out event at the firehall on August 3rd.
  • Discussed the beginning of the consolidation study between West Leechburg and Allegheny Township. This was delayed due to the secretarial vacancy.
  • Discussed several grant applications that are in various stages of completion/implementation/approval.
