At its August meeting, the West Leechburg Borough Council decided to change the location of meetings for the rest of 2020. Thanks to the cooperation of the West Leechburg Volunteer Fire Company, council meetings will be held in the firemen's recreation hall at 1116 Gosser Street. Meetings will continue to be on the second Wednesday of each month at 7pm.

This move will allow council to continue holding in-person meetings while following appropriate social distancing mandates in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Those considering installing a swimming pool or who already have a swimming pool must ensure pools are placed, assembled and/or constructed to the PA Uniform Construction Code. This code is meant to help keep families and the neighborhood safe and to prevent swimming pool accidents. Please see the regulations below.

Under Act 45 of the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code, Statute 403.26 states: "A swimming pool, hot tub and spa which Is accessory to a one- or- two family dwelling shall comply with all of the following, Chapter 42 of the International Residential Code, Appendix G of the International Residential Code, Section 2406.4 Paragraph 9 of the International Building Code and Section 3109.4 of the International Building Code."

All swimming pools that are 24" or more deep must meet these codes and the owner must obtain zoning, building, and electrical permits. Requirements include:

• Pools that are 4 ft tall or greater must have a locking ladder. 
  
• Pools that are between 24" and 48" must have a 4 ft barrier surrounding the pool with a self- closing gate that locks from the inside.
  
• No pump ,heater, or powered cover can be powered from an extension cord.
  
• Pool pumps, heaters, and powered covers must be directly plugged into a GFI plug with a cover and pools must be properly grounded.

Please contact the appropriate officials to seek permits and guidance on pool installation in the borough.

The school taxes have been mailed and should have been received on August 1st. The tax payment schedule for 2% discount, FACE amount and penalty are listed on the bill and are the same as previous years.  Office hours are on the bill, which are for August, September and November Tuesday 6 to 8pm and Wednesday 9am-12noon and for October and December Tuesday from 6 to 8pm.
