Council Highlights 4/9/25

Among other things, council: 
• Approved ordinance 338 officially disbanding the West Leechburg Police Department and repealing any ordinances related to the establishment of the department.
• Approved ordinance 339 authorizing the borough to participate in the Westmoreland County SWAT team. Allegheny Township already participates in the SWAT team and this ordinance just ensures that the SWAT team can legally operate in the borough if needed.
• Authorized HRG to advertise for bids to pave the borough parking lots. Bids to be advertised and accepted on PennBid and opened on 7/13/25.
• Discussed ongoing sewer projects on Gosser Street and Ninth Street.
• Discussed a grant application HRG is preparing for another sewer project on James Street.
• Heard from the Emergency Management Coordinator regarding updates to the borough’s Emergency Management Plan.
• Discussed upcoming interviews for public works positions.
