Council Highlights 6/10/26

Among other things, council:

Heard from Dr. David Keibler, superintendent, and Mr. Jacob Chapla, business manager, from Leechburg Area School District. They were at the meeting to discuss the new method the school district is planning to use to calculate real estate taxes in the district. This new method will see a more equal distribution of the tax burden across the district, resulting in lower taxes across the district. (This new calculation is subject to final budget approval by the school board at its meeting next week). Council thanked Dr. Keibler and Mr. Chapla for their work and expressed thanks to the school board for their consideration of this issue.
Discussed progress being made by the secretary to transition sewer user fee billing to a new provider. Expect more information on this in the near future.
Hired part-time summer workers for public works.
Discussed ongoing plans for grant applications, public works projects, and equipment needs.
